Digital Photography
I am no expert on photography by any means but it is something that interests me. Photography has been used to capture precious memories for a long time but now, instead of having to wait to have films developed, we are into the age of digital photography. Now you can see instantly an image of the photograph you have just taken. Your photographs can be downloaded to your computer where you can edit the images making adjustments in sharpness, brightness etc. You can choose to print your photographs, save them in a file or share with family and friends instantly by email.
There are many software products available to help with the editing of photographs. Some you can download free and some you can purchase. If you would like to learn more about digital photography there are many books and online websites giving tips to help you.
There are said to be 6328 different varieties of digital cameras out there so how do you choose the right one for you. Digital cameras are so different from its predecessor. With the digital camera you can point and click, taking unlimited shots, then choose the best and delete the rest. Here is a brief description of different cameras available.
Compact Camera or point and shoot camera is the cheaper option. They can fit in your pocket. They have electronic zooms. Some compact cameras now have ‘mega-zooms’ 10x or 12x zooms.
Sub compacts are similar to compact cameras but are usually a little more expensive.
Super zoom models have zoom lenses of 10x or more, have automatic and manual settings and are more expensive than the compact or sub compact cameras.
The SLR camera or single lens reflex camera is the largest and most expensive camera. It has manual controls and you can swap the lenses to suit. This is the preferred camera of the professionals.
